Women’s leadership in sustainability is a topic that has been on my radar for a long time. It was key to my Master’s thesis research, which then informed my 2011 Solutions Journal piece, “Gender and the Sustainable Brain.” What I wrote in my closing paragraph holds:
I believe that encouraging the relational and empathetic aspects of human thinking—and better balancing that which has been perceived as masculine and feminine—will lead us to a more sustainable, enduring, and productive global community.
Fast forward to early 2018, and we see momentum building around the importance of women’s leadership (from factory floor to executive suite to political office) to boost integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
