Taking Gender Out Of Leadership: My Latest HuffPo Post

Are men better leaders or women?  Do we need to clear out all the guys and bring in only women to run our companies and organizations today?

How about looking at the great skills and innate abilities each human brings to the table and working from there – leaving gender out of it?

My latest Huffington Post piece responds to a recent announcement of the launch of a new study on women’s ways of leading.  The cause looks great, but the communication of the mission may be a bit polarizing – in terms of gender and generation.  Here’s an excerpt:

For years and years there seems to have been a negative assumption that men will forever dominate women’s lives. And yet, when pressed, most women today will admit to having a few male friends of their own who they consider uniquely evolved and open/interested in broader gender discussions. So, should we all join together with these forward-thinking men to tackle the issue, or form another women-specific organization? Let’s take responsibility for our approach.
