A comment from my dad who remembers that initial Saturn launch too:

"Andrea, one of the things implicit in the Saturn way, or maybe even explicit, was getting and using feedback from customers. I really go for that. It is very frustrating to hear of manufacturers wondering what went wrong when they weren't in the habit of either asking and listening to their customers what went wrong or what went right, or what could be better or different. They have way too long felt they knew what was best for their clientele."

Yes Saturn is headed up by a woman General Manager at GM, Jill Lajdziak, was at one time favored brand by women with no haggle pricing at all Saturn Dealerships and great customer service.

Saturn had eked out a comfortable spot in the cutthroat world of auto sales by taking the high road and listening to the customer. At Saturn, “a customer is guaranteed more than a good car, but a good car-buying experience.”

At AskPatty.com we train dealerships to provide this no haggle great overall experience to women car buyers in all brands.

Now that the auto makers and dealerships struggle in survival mode, perhaps it is time to change and really meet the needs of WOMEN who are the MAJORITY car buyer and serve up the car buying experience exactly the way we want - No Hassle.

Wouldn't that be refreshing?

Maybe you had better things to do? I'm the same age and clearly remember the Saturn efforts, but have been ad/marketing aware and involved for half my life. If I weren't in this field, it might not have stuck with me.

It's interesting to see how in these past decades car selling has changed. (Somehow I missed the Saturn marketing efforts back then. I'm 44 now and cannot remember their distinctive marketing message - was I not paying attention?)
