Go Blue And My Advice About T-shirts That Fit
Yes, I am using my blog for personal purposes, but I can still make a marketing to women connection… The story goes – I was in Ann Arbor this past weekend for the biggest football game ever, whereby Michigan was losing significantly and then somehow pulled out a 45 – 37 victory with 3 overtimes. While I was tailgating outside the stadium pre-game, I went into the M Den store to look for a baseball type hat that would look cool, keep the sun off my face and cost less than $20 – a significant challenge, for certain. Midst the crowds pushing through, I spied a whole wall of “girl tees,” or t-shirts especially designed for women. I’m not sure when the M Den realized that they needed to put their big M on t-shirts that actually fit the women who were buying them, but it was great to see – and they were selling like hotcakes.
If only the folks who make Lyle Lovett’s t-shirts had known. They would have sold a ton more t-shirts, as women seemed to be the majority of fans at the show I went to this past summer. Anyway…
Here’s where I may have a good business-related tip for you: If you are involved in sponsoring runs or events that include t-shirts as promotions, make sure to provide the women’s fit type T-shirt as an option. Classic Girl, a brand of American Apparel makes some great styles. You’ll sell more and get people excited to get one or buy one, just to have.
If you are going to all the trouble to produce them, pay real money to have them designed by a professional graphic designer and take the time to find a “girl tee” vendor with some good styles and colors in 100% cotton.
That’s my two cents. Now, if you are lucky, you won’t hear another peep from me about the University of Michigan football team until the New Year’s bowl games…
